Social Sector

Under the provisions of section 13 of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (DPCs) Act, 1971, it is the duty of the CAG to audit all expenditure incurred from the Consolidated Fund of India and of each state and each Union Territory having a Legislative Assembly.

The  Sector deals with audit of the following departments/bodies:

         Main Civil Departments of the State Government are :-

        i)   Health, Medical Education & Research, AYUSH, NRHM and E.S.I.

        ii)   Education (Schools, Colleges, Universities and Technical Education)

        iii)  Town and Country Planning

        iv)  Labour and Employment

        v)   Sports and Youth Affairs

        vi)   Social Welfare Department

         vii) Public Relation

         viii) Economical and Statistical

         ix)   Red Cross

        x)  Pension Payment through Banks

        xi)  Sainik Board

        xii)  Social Justice and Empowerment

        xiii)   Food and Drugs

        xiv)  Women and Child Development

          Autonomous Bodies under Sections 14, 15, 19 and 20 of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (DPC) Act, 1971
